There are also “the Brigade”, Bruno Reidal and confession of a criminal”, “No Hard Feelings” and “The World is Ours”. They were released in theaters on March 23. “L’Obs,” which helps you choose, is available.

Belgian drama from Bouli Linners, featuring Michelle Fairley, Julian Glover (1h39).

It is at the end where land merges with wind and sea. Phil (Bouli Lanzers), a man who came from other parts of the world, works as day laborer on an uninhabited island in the Hebrides, United Kingdom. He is battered by hurricanes and marked with the Presbyterian religion. He suffers a stroke that causes him to lose his memory. Millie (Michelle Fairley), an unmarried woman, is able to restore his memory by telling him that they had been in a secret relationship. It’s wrong. Phil responds gratefully to his feelings and begins to get closer to the uninviting fifty-something. Under the harsh gaze of Scottish peasants and hardened by rites and austerity, this false love story will blossom into a wave of fragile love. The lie will continue to be revealed until then.

Bouli Lanners has a blacksmith’s body and prophet’s beard. He is a filmmaker who was born in three administrative entities (Belgian German Dutch), and splits his time between the three professions of actor, director, and painter, actor, and director. He signed films from several registers (thrillers, comedy, and melody). He is a court-bouillon-smiling minstrel with a sour, sinister smile. He plays Phil, the foreigner in “The Shadow of a Lie”. We don’t know much about him except that death is just a few steps away. The body covered in clumsy tattoos – what do they mean? He has forgotten it – and with becalmed mind, he contemplates, fascinated, the granite mountains. Here is the film side of the story: These landscapes of extraordinary beauty are chiselled and bitten by the Atlantic. They are surrounded by shivering green grass and dialogue with the characters. These lines are created by the Gods of the Gaelic Christians, and the two old lovers submit to it without any appeal. Michelle Fairley is the fierce-faced actress who gained fame for her role as the royal virago on “Game of Thrones”. She plays the frightening Lady Stark. Fairley manages to play a difficult role with grace. Her deceit is both palpable and also desirable. “The Shadow of a Lie” has a romantic instinct, a touch of sweetness, and delicate music. It is cinematographic pleasure to see new stars rising from the bottom, in an unknown sky. Francois Forestier

French drama by Hélier Cisterne, with Vincent Lacoste, Vicky Krieps, Jules Langlade (1h35).

Fernand Iveton (a French communist worker) was sentenced to death in 1956 for terrorist activities. He will be the European who is executed. However, 221 Algerians are also being executed. The story, inspired by the book (2016) by Joseph Andras, is explosively powerful: the colonial machine, political pressure, the implementation of exceptional laws, and the decision of the Minister of Justice (François Mitterrand), everything contributes to a tragic outcome. The film’s fascinating story is driven by iron conviction, Vincent Lacoste, a powerful actor, and a burning desire to condemn the inhumanity of the state. We are left there, devastated by Iveton’s death and the shame of an oppressed justice. F. F.

Franco-Egyptian drama comedy by Omar El Zohairy. With Demyana Nassar. Samy Bassouny. Fady Mina Fawzy (1h52).

In a hovel, where the toxic fumes from the nearby factory infiltrate and we hear cartoons playing on TV, a mother is forced to slave to her husband without speaking a word. The scenes continue: washing, cooking, etc. Birthday party: A conjurer turns the unlucky into a hen. Later – idiocy of the bureaucracy – the woman will have to trade the fowl for a bum in bad shape. The fable of Omar El Zohairy, an Egyptian fable, combines hyperrealism with theater of absurdity to tell the story of the beautiful and slow emancipation a family member who has been subject to harassment and precariousness. Brechtian, shiny, puffy. This is where no one will be fleeced. Sophie Grassin

French comedy by Louis-Julien Petit, with Audrey Lamy, François Cluzet, Chantal Neuwirth (1h30).

A loudmouthed chef (Audrey Lamy), is unemployed and accepts a job at a canteen in a home of migrant minors. Although initially reluctant, she eventually takes them under her wing to teach them gastronomy. “Top Chef” is a program that integrates the excluded. It’s a social comedy with good intentions but overshadowed by television tropism. The first quarter of an hours is set up, and the rest are engulfed in the noble ambition of Louis-Julien Petit (“the Invisibles”), to highlight the formidable nature the children (Yannick Kalombo and Alpha Barry), from ‘a true reception center, to detriment of holding its movie, with the tunes by sub-Nakache, Toledano. Nicolas Schaller

French historical drama by Vincent Le Port, with Dimitri Doré, Jean-Luc Vincent, Roman Villedieu (1h41).

Under the shadow of Robert Bresson and René Allio (“Me, Pierre Rivière, having slaughtered my mother, my sister and my brother”), the film tells the authentic story of a young peasant and seminarian imprisoned for the murder by decapitation of a 12-year-old boy, in 1905, in Cantal. He is shown executing the butchery offscreen. Blood splashes on his shirt. He gives up but doesn’t feel any remorse. Interrogations by forensic experts. (Splendid) Reading of the indecipherable Reidal’s writings in voice-over. He reminisces about his murderous impulses. Le Port makes this deafening debut feature film with intelligence and composure. He resorts to flashbacks, sets the scene for a realism that is unable to resist, and tries to explain this terrible crime. And also succeeds thanks to Dimitri Doré, crossed by a stubborn grace. S. G.

German drama by Faraz Shariat with Benjamin Radjaipour and Eidin Jalali (1h32).
