What does neutrality in a country look like for Ukraine? What does this concept imply?
This means that Ukraine has given up its NATO ambitions and is now neutral. This doesn’t seem like a major change. Ukraine is currently a neutral country and is not a member in good standing of any military alliance. Two, NATO doesn’t want Ukraine to become a member of its military alliance and has stated repeatedly that this. Diplomacy is not neutral. Although there are 50 shades, membership would not be on the political agenda. I do believe, however, that NATO would continue offering Ukraine technical and training assistance.
What approach should Ukraine adopt in peace negotiations? And, what concessions are acceptable for the Ukrainians.
The question of neutrality for non-NATO nations is an opportunity for Ukraine. NATO has not yet accepted Ukraine as a NATO member. This concession would be negligible for Russia. If Zelensky accepted any of the other Russian demands, such as demilitarization and Donbas, it may prove more difficult for the Ukrainian population to accept them. In this context, I think the idea of linking any peace agreement to a referendum is a very smart move by the president.
Russia has one strategic goal, and that is to make sure that Ukraine falls within Russia’s area of influence. Russia will be an aggressor in Ukraine as long as the goal is not reached, both militarily and politically. Moscow doesn’t care if this goal is not achieved in the shortest time possible. In this light, any Russian offer to a ceasefire or a peace deal must be viewed. It’s a way for Moscow buy time and to reorganize.
Are China and Russia getting closer? Beijing will use Russia’s weakness as an opportunity to marginalize Moscow.
Beijing must tread a fine line. China has to balance between the interests of the Russo and Western rivalries. China supports Russia in order to resist the West. China can become stronger by fighting harder. The West-Russian rivalry can also have negative effects on the world economy and Chinese economic interests.
