NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg warned Tuesday that Russia seeks a pretext for chemical weapons use in Ukraine. He did this after pointing out “lies” by the Kremlin about the development and operation of biological laboratories in Ukraine.
Stoltenberg indicated that Moscow may be planning a “false Flag” attack to use chemical arms in neighboring countries at a press conference just before the meeting. This was after Stoltenberg recalled Russian history with chemical agents being used against political opponents and its support for such practices in Syria.
“During the crisis they have tried false flag operations to intervene. Now they accuse Ukraine developing chemical weapons. We see the possibility that this is happening,” he stated of possible Russian chemical attacks.
When asked if such a scenario would lead NATO to intervene in Ukraine’s conflict, the Norwegian politician declined to answer. He said that Russia will “pay a high price” for using this weapon. He said, “I’m not going to speculate on an NATO military response.”
