Olaf Scholz will become the Prime Minister through the agreement between the SPD, Green Party, and FDP.
BERLIN – Leaders of the three parties involved in forming a new German Government have signed a Joint Agreement, which they will submit on Wednesday.
The election was won by the Social Democratic Party of the Left (SPD), which was elected on September 26. Finance Minister Olaf Scholz, (Olaf Scholz), won the election as prime minister’s nominee. Green Party and Liberal Democratic Party will form a 3-party government.
The closing of the agreement was completed on Wednesday morning with the final meeting of the alliance negotiations. Scholz and the SPD leader will be submitting the agreement to Scholz and the Green Party leaders and FDP.
The agreement will then need to be presented to other political parties for consideration. The Green Party intends to negotiate with all members. Meanwhile, the Social Democratic Party has organized a special party meeting for December 4, to decide whether or not to accept the alliance agreement. FDP will do the same at the party congress in December 5.
If all parties agree, Scholz will be elected chancellor during the week beginning December 6, adhering to the parties’ timeline.
