Joe Biden made Wednesday’s announcement with words of appreciation to President Volodimir Zelensky, for his speech at the United States Congress on Wednesday.$800 million package of aid is unprecedented to assist Ukraine in its defense against the Russian invasion.
“We are going to give Ukraine the weapons to fight and defend yourself during all the difficult days ahead”, was the US president’s statement prior to his signing of the presidential emergency aid measure to Kyiv. He said, “This can be a long-and difficult road.”
The United States has provided nearly $2 billion in humanitarian aid and military assistance to Ukraine since January 2021 when the Democratic leader assumed office. The Biden Administration approved the following week:One billion dollars to support the “brave”Ukrainian people must protect themselves from Russian invasion and its devastating results in Ukraine
“The world will pay”r “a very high price” to the Russian presidentBiden was denounced for his atrocities towards the Ukrainian population. He claims that he aims “to isolate Putin from the rest” and believes that Russia’s sanctions “will only do greater damage over time.”
Biden reminded that “we are not doing it alone” and said that he was working with allies and partners to help Ukraine. “We will do everything we can to keep putting pressure” on Russia. The US president added, “America supports freedom forces,” emphasizing the words of “freedom” as well as “democracy.”
Biden stressed that “this is about the right for the people to decide their own future.” “The Americans have listened to Zelensky’s call for more help. And this is what we are doing.”
Biden announced, at the press conference, that “this new package provides unprecedented help” at the request of Zelensky, with extensive military and security capacity that includes transportation and equipment to destroy tanks. For months, the US spent thousands of dollars on humanitarian aid including water, food, and medicine.
Joe Biden spoke to the nation just hours after his Ukrainian counterpart gave his first speech in Congress. Before the large crowd of legislators, he asked for more assistance than they had provided. Volodimir Zelensky, in a direct, emotional and close intervention, stressed the need to get more aid to save Ukraine’s democracy from Russian attacks. He suggested that President Joe Biden be run as the leader of the world and therefore, the leader of world peace.
On Wednesday, the President and Prime Minister of Ukraine spoke to the US Congress. He expressed gratitude for the support given to the Ukrainian people, as well as requesting that more aid be provided to help with the Russian invasion.
Volodimir Zilensky stated that Ukraine is grateful for the United States’ overwhelming support, but that he asked them to do more. Ukraine’s president urged US Congressmen to close Ukraine’s airspace and impose more sanctions on Russia in order to protect his country from Russian attacks.
Biden has resisted kyiv’s request to create a no-fly area in Ukraine. A move that doesn’t have bipartisan support in Congress, and that U.S. officials fear could increase tensions and lead to conflict, is something that the Biden administration has resisted. Russia has a deadly arsenal of nuclear and chemical weapons that could even lead to a Third World War.
