95 people were injured in the accident that occurred in Jbel Jelloud in the south suburbs of the capital. Most of them only slightly. The trains were both empty and one was carrying passengers.
Civil Defense stated that at least 95 people were seriously injured in Monday’s collision between two trains south of Tunis.
“The collision between two trains caused 95 injuries who were transported to hospitals”Moez Treaa, Civil Defense spokeswoman, said that one train was carrying passengers, while the other was empty.
Around 9:30 AM local Jbel Jelloud in the south of the capital, the collision between two trains of National Society of Tunisian Railways was reported. It was not immediately obvious what caused it.
According to the spokesman most of those injured had broken bones, so no serious cases can be deplored. The accident scene was attended to by fifteen ambulances and emergency vehicles. Minutes before two commuter trains were due to arrive at Tunis central station, the collision occurred.
